    Master in the Study of Addictions

    Addresses the root of the problem in the prevention and treatment of addictions from a psychodynamic approach.
    Field: Wellness and Psychotherapy
    Develop a comprehensive vision of the phenomenon of addictions through analytical and research tools that allow you to deepen your knowledge of these and design individual, group and community interventions with an emphasis on risk and harm reduction.

    The Hebraica University is a leading academic institution of excellence in the training of professionals in the field of addictions.

    Taking into account the consequences associated with the consumption of psychoactive substances in our country, as well as those of other types of addictions, the UH launched this innovative program with the aim of developing skills in educators and professionals in the area that allow them to create strategies that address this problem in school and community settings.

    To enable the professional practice of students, we have agreements with the Institute for the Attention and Prevention of Addictions in Mexico City (IAPA) and the Youth Integration Centers (CIJ).

    First semester

    • Introduction to the study of addictions.
    • Theories and explanatory models of addictions. -Neurological, pharmacological and clinical bases of addictions.
    • Fundamentals in addiction prevention.

    As of the 2nd semester, students must choose, based on their entry profile, between the Specialty in Psychotherapeutic Intervention or Specialty in Preventive Intervention. Students will participate in supervised practice activities.

    Second semester - Psychotherapeutic Intervention

    • Analytical psychology of addictions.
    • Detection, evaluation and orientation of the addicted patient.
    • Psychopathology of addictions.
    • Structure of the personality of the addicted individual.
    • Group supervisions begin.

    Second semester - Preventive Intervention

    • Prevention programs in the school and family context.
    • Prevention programs in the workplace and community.
    • Design, implementation and evaluation of prevention programs.
    • Design of prevention campaigns in the media.

    Third semester- Psychotherapeutic Intervention

    • Brief psychodynamic intervention in addictions.
    • Clinical practice.
    • Fundamentals of the risk and harm reduction approach.
    • Research Methods.
    • Fundamentals of the risk and harm reduction approach.
    • Research Methods.

    Third semester- Preventive Intervention

    • Evidence-based preventive and treatment interventions.
    • Practice in service.
    • Research Methods.
    • Fundamentals of the risk and harm reduction approach.

    At the end of the third semester and meeting the corresponding requirements, you obtain the degree of Specialty

    Fourth semester

    • Research seminar I.
    • Development of projects in addictions I.
    • Selected Topics in Addictions I (Family and Addictions).
    • Strategies for the prevention of risks and damages.

    Fifth semester

    • Research seminar II.
    • Development of projects in addictions II.
    • Selected topics in addictions II (society, culture and addictions).
    • Public policies, legal and ethical framework in addictions.
